News Letter 11 - Easter 2009

2nd April - 18th April

We arrived in Uganda at our destination 18 hours later jet-lagged and tired but ready for the mission.

4th April

Vanda and Dionne went into town on lady’s business, and I was in discussions with finalising all the negotiations for the Kadamma and Maanyi projects, and the future of the projects. We sorted out the accommodation/food and transport fee’s for our driver and translator. All fees for the above were paid by myself, Vanda and Dionne from our own income. The money raised and placed into the account was paid directly to Bishop Tom Wanyamma – Lugazi, Bishop Moses Lubega - Maanyi and Elder Peter Kwere from the Kadamma project. We also discussed the donation of £15,000 pounds that Vanda and I gave direct from our savings account.

Welcome to East African Outreach

Hello and welcome to the East African Outreach website. My name is Rev Sharif Gulsher and this is our introduction to East African Outreach, my wife vanda and I run East African Outreach. Much of our work is focused in Uganda, in East Africa.

Much of our work between 2000 and 2005 has been concentrated on an under-funded school in Lugazi, Uganda. However, recently other agencies within and outside Uganda have started to take over and continue the good work. May God's grace and good fortune bless them in the continuing good work. Vanda and I completed a ministry out in Uganda during Easter 2008. We concentrated on other projects in Uganda.

Vanda and I believe that the future work of East African Outreach will certainly be in helping and developing smaller scale outreach works in various parts of Uganda.

Within the United Kingdom. Vanda and I are very involved in ministering within the Methodist Church. We also minister within churches and groups of other denominations, teaching and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are also very committed to the other side of the work we do in Uganda. Spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ within the Churches of Uganda its not just teaching faith but by our examples on a practical realm, here is a quote I was given and it profoundly had an affect me:

“I SOUGHT MY SOUL, MY SOUL I COULD NOT SEE, I SOUGHT MY GOD, BUT HE ELUDED ME ,I SOUGHT MY BROTHER AND I FOUND ALL THREE!”

I believe that by our actions people see God. I am still amazed at the profound positive effect it has on people's lives in Uganda. I have great hopes for the people of Uganda and I hope I can help the Ugandan people in all they do.

Amen!

Our organisation is purely a volunteer and fund raising organisation that depends on funds and donations given by friends, relatives, and members of our community. All funds donated go to our two current projects as and when they need them. The donations are given freely to help the cause in Uganda. In addition volunteers support the work by volunteering their time and commitment. All volunteers go out to our projects in Uganda with myself and Vanda. Vanda and I provide all our own funds for our journey; they consist of flight ticket/accommodation/food and local transport, and many other gifts we gladly give freely. We feel it’s the only fair way of doing our work. So that the funds raised will be given directly to our main project in Maanyi.

I wish to give you an introduction to the founding of the projects in Uganda: As part of my remit as a Minister out in Uganda, and while representing the churches out there, I see a great need in theses children. These are children who live on the streets, they’re suffering in poverty and are estranged from their families. Also the devastation of numerous previous wars and also the ever present diseases cause great hardships. Kidnapping and abuse are also common place.

We pioneer this work to try and meet some of their needs. We start these projects because it gives the accommodation, food, clothing and education they need. But, with this taken into account, none of these projects would be a success if it were not for the help and compassion of all our friends. In that we say thank you with a grateful heart.
